Nearly 90% of small-midsized businesses (SMBs) would consider hiring a new managed service provider if they offered the right SMB cyber security solution.
The average cost of a cyber attack at an SMB is $54,650, and as this number continues to increase, SMBs are becoming more aware of how critical SMB security is for their business. Continuum recently published an SMB security report that collected data from 850 SMBs in the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Belgium, and the findings show great opportunities for the MSP industry.
77% of SMBs anticipate that at least half of their SMB cyber security needs will be outsourced in five years – and 78% are planning to invest more in cyber security in the next 12 months. Martha Vazquez, senior research analyst for infrastructure services at IDC, says it is apparent that SMBs are becoming more security-aware. “SMBs are still looking at price, but they wouldn’t go with a Secureworks or IBM” because they are out of their price range, she says. “However, they will pay for providers that offer more advanced threat detection and analytics. They’re looking at the security talent the providers have, plus the 24×7 support.”
As an MSP, are you offering the kind of SMB security that they are demanding? Is your current cyber security offering effectively protecting your clients’ networks 24 hours a day, 7 days a week? If you are unsure or want great assurance (so you can sleep more easily at night), consider offering your clients a true Managed Detection and Response (MDR) service; one that includes:
- Ransomware Protection (the biggest concern of 90% of MSPs and their clients)
- Anti-malware Technologies
- Best-in-class Lateral Spread Detection
- Privileged Account Monitoring
- Live Network Asset Mapping
- Hacker Tradecraft Detection
- The Ability to Monitor Non-traditional Devices such as Smartphones, VoIP phones, and other IoT devices via our NICOS
True MDR should provide 24/7 threat hunting, alert triage, and response to be effective. An email alerting you that your client has been compromised and a list of remediation steps is not enough – analysts must be present at all times to take action when disaster strikes.
