This week I have a great chat with Dave Sears, former commander of the U.S. Navy SEALS, with twenty-plus years of tactical and strategic knowledge in how to grow and keep a cohesive and strong team. You may also recognize Dave for frequently appearing on a variety of news programs as a national security commentator. Dave talks about what we can learn from high performance and leadership with the SEAL Teams and apply it to business and the corporate world. He and I discuss how the mark of a high performer is how they deal with adversity, and how we can relate that to the cybersecurity and outside business world to rise above and learn from our challenges. Dave reminds us to recognize that there are people and teams behind our numbers and that it’s not just always about the bottom line, and why it’s crucial to be a good generalist and work the muscle of every component within your industry.

Commander (ret) Dave Sears served 20 years of active military duty as a U.S. Navy SEAL officer.  He served on multiple east coast SEAL Teams, Naval Special Warfare Development Group, Joint Commands, and Headquarters USSOCOM. Commander Sears has participated in a number of conflicts and contingency operations in Latin America, Europe, Africa, and Asia.   Dave is a graduate of Boston University and the Naval Post Graduate School with an MS in Defense Analysis. He is a co-founder and managing partner at Xundis Global, LLC – a consultancy firm that teaches organizations and individuals how to navigate the complexity of an emerging world.  In addition he works as a Keynote Speaker, Senior Consultant and Advisor to multiple clients in the Defense and Technology space, an Adjunct to the Joint Special Operations University, and is a regular guest commentator on Fox News, Fox Business, CNN, and CBSN.
